Escaping Perfectionism: Hidden Brain
Perfectionism is everyone’s favorite flaw. It’s easy to assume that our push to be perfect is what leads to academic, athletic and professional success. But psychologist Thomas Curran says perfectionism has a dark side, and that there are much healthier ways to strive for excellence.
Facilities - Need to Know Items
Huron Loading Dock - Staff must notify the Facilities department of all Huron Street loading dock deliveries. Trades/Delivery personnel must be accompanied by a Facilities staff member.
Lost U of T Students - We ask that all U of T Students be redirected to the west side back parking lot, Spadina or Bloor Street entrances. Please do not escort them through UTS to the Bloor lobby.
Battery Recycling - The battery recycling bin has been moved to the MP Room/Fleck Atrium area.
Photo Retake Day
Staff are invited to take photos in the Withrow Auditorium on October 17 before classes begin at 10:30 a.m.
Staff are also welcome to drop in at lunch.
OISE MT Teacher Candidates On Site
You may have noticed our OISE Master of Teaching candidates are on site on some Thursdays.
They will be wearing lanyards to identify them while they are in the school. On the weeks they are coming in, a sign-up sheet is shared (via email by Wednesday) so that you can let us know (by Thursday morning at 8 a.m. please) if it’s not a good day for a classroom visit.
Upcoming dates: Oct 19, 26, Jan 11, 18, 25, Feb 1, Feb 8, Apr 11.
Hosting an OISE MT Teacher Candidate for Practicum
If you are interested in being an Associate Teacher for the OISE MT program, please contact Kim MacKinnon or Cresencia Fong.
Fall Practicum: November 3 to December 8
Winter Practicum: February 20 to April 9 (if you are hosting a second-year candidate for their final placement, it will run until April 16 and has three earlier observation days - February 2, 9, 15).
Associate teachers are paid a $250 honorarium to host a teacher candidate.
Flu and COVID Boosters Vaccination Clinics
As respiratory illnesses are on the rise, Toronto Public Health strongly recommends getting your flu and COVID booster shots.
Starting October 25, you can book your appointments via this portal. These vaccines will also be available at your local pharmacy and your family doctor.
