Ode to Esther the Wonder Pig (2012-2023)

On October 18, Esther the Wonder Pig passed away at age 11, comforted by her dads Steve and Derek. Esther has been a fixture for the F1 Geo Animal Sanctuary Project since 2020 when we had the great fortune of visiting her live virtually to learn more about animal sentience and the love of animals of all kinds. The Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary (HEEFS) has since served as a model sanctuary for students to design their own sanctuaries to help protect and celebrate animals around the world. HEEFS, located in Campbellville, is home to over 80 farmed animal residents including pigs, cows, chickens and goats.

Esther inspired millions of people to change their relationships to farmed animals and adopt more plant-rich diets.

Her Facebook page with 1.5 million followers provided joy and laughter over the years, and tracked her exploits with her best friends Phil the Pitbull and Cornelius the Turkey (sadly, Cornelius passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 9).

Despite the loss, we are so lucky to have been part of her life for a number of years, and we look forward to carrying on her legacy here at UTS.
