Staffing Update

We are pleased to announce that Andrea Annis will be moving from her Development and Community Relations Officer role in Advancement to Student Life as of November 15, when she will assume the role of Student Life Officer as of November 15.  Andrea will work with Garry Kollins and the Student Life team as she assumes new responsibilities to ensure that the processes already developed to manage the large volume of information and communication in this role continue seamlessly.

Andrea brings a wealth of project management and communications experience to Student Life, as well as knowledge of the UTS parent community, which will help in ensuring a smooth transition into her role.  Andrea will continue to support some of the UTSPA functions, until the end of December.

Please join us in wishing Andrea great success in her new role.

Email Signatures

On Thursday, November 10, we are planning to integrate new email signatures for staff, through a Google Form which provided preferences, titles, degrees and more. If any details have changed since you filled in the form, please click here to resubmit. If you do not need to make any changes, there is no action needed on your part. You will see the signatures change late in the day on Thursday.

In tandem with the new website, we are making this change to convey greater consistency and professionalism in our branding to our external community. Please do not alter the signature in your Gmail signature settings.

Please email it@uschools.ca if you need to make a change to your signature.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you! Student Letters of Recommendation

Thank you to everyone who supported students by writing a letter of recommendation on their behalf. The next deadline is December 1st for teachers who agreed to write a “regular decision” letter of recommendation. Information about letter writing can be found here and here. If you already completed a letter for a student in the early round of applications, your job is done!

Recommendations for special opportunities, scholarships and supplementary applications

Students applying to programs such as SHAD or S6 students who are completing their university applications may need confirmation of their activities/academics from a teacher, and may ask for your support. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Andrea (A-J), Julia (K-Sh) or Munira (Si-Z). Many thanks! (Andrea)

Silver Linings

UTS brings together like-minded students who love learning. Sometimes this even leads to romance! High-school sweethearts Vivek Kesarwani ’09 and Ellen Bennett ’10 chose UTS as one of their wedding photo locales, a nod to the school where their relationship began. Their five-day Hindu-Catholic wedding was also featured in Toronto Life magazine.
